Event information

We have a superb lineup for our first show of 2026!

Unfortunately for reasons outside of our control, The Terraplanes Blues Band have had to pull out of our next show. However, we’re excited to announce that in their place we have secured the return to the Club of the fantastic Hexmen who last played here in 2024!

Fasten your seatbelts for this evening of 200mph harmonica driven blues. The Hexmen were a product of the post-punk creative maelstrom of Liverpool in the early 1980s. George Hexman(aka George Wickstead): singer, session blues-harp player and frontman, founded the band, joining forces with major movers and shakers of the scouse music scene. The Hexmen line-up was a shifting collaboration of local luminaries including members of The Stairs, Edgar Jones Charley Whitney/Los Racketeeros( Family), Electrofixion( Echo&TheBunnymen) Afraid of Mice, Psychedelic Furs the Las, the Boo Radleys, Elvis Costello,Stairs, Cast,Dr Phibes amongst others
.Although always known as a blues band, the Hexmen’s material is not that easy to categorise. The band’s backbone is blues based certainly, but one of the defining qualities of the Hexmen has alway been energy. The quality of blues played tends to have an agressive edge which owes a lot to punk – not surprisingly as many of the players involved in the band cut their teeth on punk in the late seventies and early eighties. However, the genre of the music is in many ways a reprise of the amphetamine-fuelled rhythm and blues that came out of London’s pub circuit in the seventies.

Dirty Ruby are a five piece contemporary Blues Band hailing from the East Midlands, first formed in 2018. Compared to 70s blues rock bands Stone the Crows and Vinegar Joe, with Anna's lead vocals compared to Chrissie Hynde and Elkie Brooks.
The band consists of a tight rhythm section, gorgeous blues guitar with a bit of crunch' dirty hammond organ/Fender Rhodes keyboards with vocal harmonies and a smattering of harmonica. Having received a top 20 nomination for Best Emerging Act 2025, from the UK Blues Federation, the band are gaining momentum and causing waves on the circuit. Their original material is a mix of Blues genre's, well written, lyrically good and well delivered, and with a genuinely strong sound, the band are definitely going places.

Tickets £15 in advance or £18 cash/contactless on the door (subject to availability)
