Featuring Tayo Aluko and many local top quality artists
Presented by: Sheffield Nablus Twinning Assn0 | SHEFFIELD: Crookes Club |
---|---|
P | Saturday 4th October, 2025 |
N | 5:00pm |
Doors open at 4.30pm. The live-link will run from 5pm to 7pm with performances from Nablus (if the situation allows) and Sheffield, followed by food and an evening of live artists featuring Tayo Aluko, followed by the Juju Club decks.
From 5 til 7pm, our Nablus friends will showcase Ameed Jamous, Oud player, Saed Abu Hijleh, poet, and we will hear first hand about life in Nablus today. We have messages of support from the UK Palestine Ambassador and our Lord Mayor, and video clips of community projects in Nablus and Sheffield.
After food (£7/£5) the soft vibes of Graham Jones and then the powerful voice of daughter Hannah will perform some jazz classics. Tayo Aluko, a Nigerian actor, playwright and singer extraordinaire will tell stories and share songs. He performed in Sheffield early in the year with his one person show about the life of Paul Robeson. We guarantee Tayo's extraordinary baritone singing voice will touch your soul. Our evening will also include the Freedom Jazz Four, performing well-known pieces and their own compositions and including Errol Francis, Peter Jones, Graham Oldroyd and Kate Whittaker. Following on, Pete Watts and Kent Roach with fast trad jazz and ragtime rhythms, and then a new musician to our stage, Jason Aubrey, with a beautiful voice and known for his track 'Sugar Rush'.
To complete an evening of exceptional talent, we have the JuJu club spinning discs with DJs Alan Deadman and Aejaz Zee.
The generosity of all these musicians sharing their time and talent is such a privilege for us, and we hope we can do them proud by showing what support there is in Sheffield for Nablus and that we can support further links and the development of future projects.
