Event information

The last Monday of every month here is Not Only But also The Blues where we feature some of the finest exponents in the south west, and beyond, of music whose roots are in the blues.

Rush Hour
Blues with the soul and groove to make you move.
These four seasoned performers will take you on a journey from raw emotion to rockin' good times, with an eclectic mix of hidden gems. Although no strangers to straight-up 12 bar blues, Rush Hour plays a good mix of blues songs that go beyond the standard 12 bar format.. It's high energy entertainment – think Koko Taylor, T Bone Walker, and Nina Simone rubbing shoulders with more contemporary songs – even some INXS!
Formed in 2018, Rush Hour combines the powerhouse vocals of Missy Marisa with three more musicians, all steeped in the blues: Mike Connor, guitar
Steve Chapman, bass
Andy Mills, drums

James Oliver (guitar/vocals) and Mark Kemlo (drums)
One of the UK's busiest blues musicians playing over 300 gigs a year all over Europe and the USA. James has shared the stage with many of the biggest blues players including Albert Lee, Bill Kitchen, Walter Trout and many more. In 2020 James won the UK Blues Federation Emerging Artist of the year. His album Twang was #1 on the Amazon blues charts for 3 weeks. James is currently working on a new record with legendary producer John Leckie.

“One of the UK's next generation guitar masters” Blues Harp legends

“If you want to see energy times 10 with the greasiest of rockabilly fire and flair, this is the guy to see.” John Drumbo (drummer for Captain Beefheart)

“Pure genius – live music as it should be played” Blues in Britain Magazine
