Sue Graves needs little introduction to TwickFolk regulars. A key member of the organising team for many years, she has sung in folk clubs for as long as she can remember and is a highly respected performer. Often referred to as the "Surrey Nightingale", Sue has the knack of choosing songs that just "click" with the audience, accompanying herself on guitar, tenor guitar and ukulele. Her clear, expressive voice means she has also been snapped up as a singer by many a collaboration. She has performed in the trios Voiceover and Soiree, and is currently a member of five-piece Suntrap.
Tonight's performance will feature songs from Sue's 2025 CD, appropriately entitled "The Surrey Nightingale", with guest appearances from members of Suntrap. Expect an evening of high-quality and expressive music from one of the best in the folk club world.
Louella JC and Leo Palzer are a singer-songwriter duo accompanying themselves on guitar, banjo and ukulele. They combine an original repertoire of songs of love, anger, revenge, social injustice and women's lives – spanning the navigation of contemporary motherhood to the dilemmas of moth eradication – with their own re-workings of songs from the English and American Folk traditions. They are becoming well known for the dark material of the stories they tell, punctuated by spine tingling harmonies and flashes of humour.
Lou & Leo have played widely across the folk clubs of London and both have been recording material - Louella's album, This Is All There Is, was released in 2024, and some of Leo's songs are to be released later this year. Lou & Leo are regularly joined by Craig Hilton on percussion.
