Join film author Nancy Epton in the Curio vault for an evening of modern film noir appreciation and discussion - with added Ryan Gosling!
Nancy's new book 'The Sound Of Silence' (Bloomsbury, 2025) explores the role of the silent hero in modern noir, joining the dots between the German Expressionism of the early twentieth century and Gosling's quietly stoic performances in modern films such as 'Drive' and 'Only God Forgives'.
She'll be presenting these and related ideas in her talk, followed by a collective discussion with the audience. Plus, there'll be a surprise creative component of the evening for attendees to engage with.
In an era of accelerated media bombardment, can non-verbal communication in film offer something different to the viewer, activating them in a different way?
Copies of Nancy's book will be available on the night.
