Event information

This interactive workshop is for Young Pioneers who want to develop their songwriting skills. It’s all about turning thoughts and feelings into music. Through fun games, journaling, lyric writing, and hands-on time with the free BandLab app, you’ll learn how to shape your ideas into songs. Just bring your phone, headphones, and an open mind. By the end, you’ll not only have your own lyric ideas recorded, but we’ll also create a group song together!

About your workshop host
St Albans native Lauren Cumberpatch is a multi-talented songwriter, vocalist, producer and DJ.

Starting out under the alias Lauren L’aimant which has seen great success, Lauren’s musical path shifted after the loss of her brother Ian and she began creating the music she truly loved, without restriction — channelling his rebellious energy under the name 1111. Dubbed a “triple threat” by BBC Radio 1’s Jaguar and championed by tastemakers such as Danny Howard, Lauren is earning a formidable reputation for her incredible productions and high-energy DJ sets. With over 438,000 monthly listeners on Spotify across both projects, her music is reaching exciting new heights.

As a youth, Lauren attended music workshops at The Pioneer Club in which she was encouraged and inspired, and so truly understands the value of what she’s offering, and is why she is so keen to help support and guide the next generation. We are so lucky to have her on board running this workshop and can’t wait to see how it goes with our Young Pioneers!

More information
The workshop will run at The Pioneer Club from 10am-12pm on Thursday 30th October and Friday 31st October. The cost for the workshop is £40+ booking fee. Attendees must be from 14 up to 18 years old and have a keen interest in songwriting. Spaces are limited on this two-day workshop, so book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. In order to make this accessible to as many Young Pioneers as we can, there are some free bursary spaces available based on application. See FAQs for more info.

Can I attend only one day or does it need to be both? Needs to be both because of the schedule of the workshop
What do I need to bring with me? A charged phone, headphones and an open mind
I can’t make this date, will you be doing it again? We’re looking to run this more often depending on uptake and interest, but nothing is in the diary yet!
