Music has the power to captivate our imaginations, sometimes through the intentions of the composer to depict a certain story and other times through the stories we create in our own minds as listeners and performers. Join Northerly Winds as we explore music from the classical wind quintet repertoire that depict tales from across Europe.
From the sea shanties of Malcolm Arnold, complete with foghorns and stormy semiquavers to the daring tale of the Game of Thieves, based on the 17th century Spanish tale by Miguel de Cervantes. On the way, we visit the medieval court of King René with Milhaud’s incidental music from the film, La Cheminée du roi René, as well as the celtic symbol of the Blackbird from the Welsh folk song.
Tickets £12 and include tea and cake after the performance.
Tickets available from Spring Bank Arts Mon to Fri 9:30-12:30 on 01663 308202, on the door and online.
