Event information

Take a journey through 800 years of music for voice and plucked strings, with FretWirk, who are Derek Taylor, Jonathan Priestley, Carmel Edwards and Natalie Windsor.
The first half of the programme begins in the 12th century and using a variety of instruments such as lute, gittern and vihuela takes us to the music of Vivaldi. After a short interval we move from early classical up to pieces from the late 20th century.
From enlightened mystic Hildegard von Bingen to 20th century Greek folk hero Mikis Theodorakis, our aim is to uncover some historical hidden gems of music and re-work some famous pieces by the great composers such as Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart.
