As part of Muswell Hill Sustainability Group's GREEN OPEN HOMES season ...
A 1.5 hour evening of three expert talks by eco-architect Natalie Black (Enbee Architecture & Design), and interior designers Nina Woodcroft (Nina+Co) and Joséphine Lecouflé-Vinet (JLV Design Ltd), followed by an open Q&A and refreshments.
NATALIE BLACK is an architect and founder of Enbee Architecture & Design, with over 20 years in the industry. Her work champions creativity, wellbeing, and sustainable choices, delving into the carbon impact of every material and approach. Her talk will take a brief look at why the impact of buildings in the world matters and how this compares in London. She will explain key industry targets (RIBA and LETI) to reach in the next 5 years and will finish with some case study examples of her own projects, laying out her methodology to produce beautiful designs with minimal impact while meeting the 2030 targets.
Natalie is also hosting architect tours of an Enbee Architecture & Design work-in-progress. energy-efficient house on Coppetts Rd N10. Book your slot through the Muswell Hill Sustainability Green Open Homes pages here: https://wegottickets.com/MuswellHillSustainabilityGroup
Enbee Architecture & Design is a team of RIBA Chartered Architects and ARB members, with a specialised interest in developing low-carbon practices, as members of the AECB. They have been making homes fit for the future, with innovative retrofits, since 2018.
NINA WOODCROFT is a material-driven designer, working with both ancient and pioneering materials — mushroom mycelium, algae, bioplastics — to create sensitive, sensual spaces with refined form, layers of meaning, and ‘a sculptor’s feeling for texture’.
During her 18+ years in the design industry, Nina has forged a path for herself from office assistant to designer to company founder and educator. As a self-taught designer, she created elegant interiors for some of the world’s top hotel brands, and luxury residences for wealthy individuals, before growing frustrated with the prevalent disregard for the wellbeing of people and the planet.
In 2014 she founded Nina+Co to collaborate with other change makers — like-minded clients, innovative designers and local craftspeople — on carefully selected projects with a strong focus on sustainability and a sense of community. The studio produces award-winning design with applied circular thinking and radical materiality at their core.
Nina will talk through the approach and materiality of a few of her projects, including her own award-winning, cork-clad home.
JOSÉPHINE LECOUFLÉ-VINET is a designer with over 25 years of experience, and a lifelong passion for interior design.
Sustainability is increasingly becoming a key part of interior design, focusing on holistically creating attractive, healthy spaces with minimal environmental impact through energy efficiency, waste reduction from reuse and upcycling, resource conservation, and the use of natural, non-toxic, and renewable materials.
Joséphine will talk through where, why and how to achieve this, including paint choices, sourcing furniture and waste and energy reducing sanitary ware, lighting & appliances, upcycling & repurposing and Biophilic design.
Joséphine's father was an antique dealer, so she brings character and an eye on the past to her contemporary designs too, enjoying creating simple, elegant and functional interiors to suit all; whether that's decorating, a room makeover or buying new furniture.
Both talks will also be live-streamed for those that can't attend, and archived on the Muswell Hill Sustainability Group You Tube channel after the event.
