In a double bill of experimental performance, multidisciplinary artists Lara Dâmaso and Puer Deorum bring their practices to resonate, activate and dialogue with the walls of The Horse Hospital.

Lara Dâmaso is a Milan/Zurich-based artist. Her work spans ephemeral and permanent forms, taking shape through the mediums of performance, sound, video, sewing, sculpture, photography and text. Lara’s practice focuses on the sensitive and vibratory dialogue between humans and the space they inhabit. She delves into the interconnectedness of the tangible and intangible, exploring the direct relationship between the movement of the voice and that of the body. This connection aims to establish a direct and emotional form of communication. Her approach is based on the concept of listening as total presence, essential to activating such a dialogue. Transformation, the plurality of the self, fluidity and interdependence, as consequences of this exchange, lie at the very core of her creative process.

Born and bred in London, Puer Deorum balances negotiations between weight and ephemerality, and the scope of mortality. Referencing psycho/socio political geographies, they question ideas around the experience of time. Teasing temporalities through endurance and duration, amplifying (inter)personal experiences through dream sequences and interpretive actions.

Creating continuums, cycles of movement and visions, distorted mirrors of earthly patterns. Refracting, retracing, rekindling memories, blurred like the recounting of a lucid dream of which the narrative was dug up from the subconscious mind. Slow but ephemeral like the transition of the sun over the shore disappearing before we know it while we gaze out onto the horizon. An illusion; enticement – the moment we scramble to memorise the moments fire and water were contiguous, entrancing, colours swept over by the darkness, an aftermath of the waves swallowing a star, caressing then absorbing our environments like a crescendo that peaks like a mountain – enigmatic but constantly present, the possibility of a threat to stability (preconceptions) looming, but ever-present.
