A founding member, and one of the main songwriters, in Scotland's beloved Trashcan Sinatras, his work of over 30 years with the Trashcans has included releasing 6 successful albums, and touring consistently all around the world. Revered by the critics and praised by many fellow artists, the band has created a large and loyal following for their classic, yet highly individual, songwriting.
John remains a treasured member of the band though he is currently enjoying a successful solo career. He released his first solo album in 2023 to rave reviews. The album found John in stripped back, raw, acoustic form. All live takes of John singing his own unique songs. He has followed that up with a recently released a 4 track EP of new songs featuring covers of Tom Waits & Van Morrison songs.
John has also been a member of his wife, Eddi Readers, band for over 20 years. He has co-written many songs with Eddi and contributed many songs to her catalogue, including the classic ‘Wild Mountainside’
Recently returned from a highly successful coast to coast USA tour, John is in fine form with his acoustic guitar, stories and songs. Catch him while you can.
