Event information

Thornton Hough Comedy Club returns with another rib-tickling line-up on Friday, September 11.
Thornton Hough Village Club & Bar’s venture into comedy have proved a runaway success since they were launched in 2024 by DBN Events headed up by Dean Boodaghians-Nolan.
Headlining our September 11 night will be ANDY KIND.
Andy, who is also a preacher and writer, started doing stand-up on 23rd January 2005. By the September of that year, Andy had gone full-time as a comedian and has made a living from it ever since.
He won Anything for Laffs in 2005 and in early 2019 hurdled over the 2000-gig barrier. Other stuff happened in between.
Described by The Scotsman as ‘Terrific’ and by the Yorkshire Times as ‘Tossing out comic gems in an almost profligate manner’, Andy’s stand-up style is the joyful ranting of a redeemed alpha male.
He has been featured on BBC1, ITV and Channel 4, while he’s had jokes featured on Dave’s One Night Stand and Live at the Apollo.
The opening act is sensational Scouser ALEX STRINGER.
Alex Stringer’s hysterically sarcastic material and brilliant dead pan delivery has audiences howling with laughter. She is one of the fastest rising stars on the comedy circuit and has proven herself to have a huge future in the industry.
Award-winning Alex performs at big clubs across the UK making weekend appearances at the likes of Frog & Bucket, Manfords Comedy Club, Comedy in a Van, Leeds Hifi, LOL Comedy Clubs, Nodding Dog Comedy and has done tour support for circuit stalwarts Tom Ward, Hayley Ellis and Sally Anne Hayward.
Her extensive accolades include Chortle Hotshot 2025, Ish Comedy Award shortlist nominee at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025, Bury Met Comedian of the Year Finalist (2024), Comedy Bloomers LGBT+ New Comedian of the Year Finalist (2022), Northwest Comedy Awards Breakthrough Comedian Nominee and West Didsbury Comedy Festival New Act of the Year Runner Up (2020). This is not an exhaustive list!
“Comedy Gold” – Rolling Stone
“Natural at audience interaction” – Chortle
“Authentic, fresh comedy, born from a very funny woman“– The Skinny
We’ll also have a set from PETER EDGE.
Far from edgy, Peter is an embattled Dad and Grandad, who has been travelling the country making audiences laugh for over seven years now.
He readily admits that comedy is not so much a ‘dream’ for him as an entry on his bucket list. Accordingly, he’s been described (by his wife) as ‘one to see before he dies’. A sort of Victor Meldrew meets Liam Neeson kind of vibe…relatable, but you’ll be glad you’re not related.
“… risqué but told with an endearing, earthy, lovable, Scouse manner. A master of the craft, he aims his material squarely at his audience. True life tales of parenthood peppered with rib cracking asides” (Lancaster Post 2025)
"a solid booking on any lineup. Relatable material delivered impeccably". – RockCentral Promotions.
Doors 6.30pm. Comedy 8pm.Food will be available from a local vendor on the night.
Further comedy nights are scheduled to take place on Friday, November 13.
