Event information
Although they might resemble an American string band, complete with driving energy, tight vocal harmonies and dazzling interplay, their vibrant sound is deeply coloured by their surroundings, the striking natural and industrial landscape of Northern England. Whilst they may be based in Newcastle, their music evokes the sunnier climes of California.
The Often Herd's songs draw from a range of influences ranging from bluegrass, folk and Americana. Their sound is both boldly contemporary and soothingly familiar, taking time honoured traditions to new places with a fresh perspective.
Their debut album 'Where The Big Lamp Shines' was released in June 2022 to great acclaim and over the summer of 2025 have been working on new material, releasing two singles 'Cool Summer Rain' and 'Remember My Name'. They also played numerous festivals, including Glastonbury and La Rochelle Bluegrass Festival in France.
