the stretch of home - understanding home as liminality

For this season, the venue will be dressed to resemble a living room. The curator would like to encourage you to bring your own trinkets, or pieces of home, to take part in shaping the space and joining a collective effort to make it into a Home. At the end of the evening, you can take back your own trinkets or, if you should choose to do so, swap it with another piece in the venue. Each ticket also comes with a zine, made in partnership with Shoes Off, a developing network and arts collective founded in London.

Joyce Wieland describes Water Sark as a “film sculpture, drawing being made while you wait”. The  fluid motions of this abstract short turn the pieces inside one’s house into something less-than-familiar. Wieland artfully bends the domestic through glass, light, water, into a living contemplation of both the home and the artistic process of making meaning. 

Like a Dog or a Boat, you tether it dir. Myles Wheeler (UK, 2018, 85 mins)
After locking himself out of his university bedroom, Myles Wheeler returns to his family home with his camcorder. What ensues is comedic, thought-provoking, deeply personal and sweet all at once. An attempt to grapple with the way life changes before you can realise it; this is a documentary-vlog feature about not quite being at home with yourself.
