Event information

Join the Chris Coull Sextet as they explore the tunes from the Blue Note record label's golden era of the 1950s and 1960s. The band play a broad array from the much-loved recordings of Lee Morgan, Dexter Gordon, Donald Byrd, Hank Mobley, Freddie Hubbard Horace Silver, Clifford Brown et al.
Chris Coull is a trumpeter well known in the UK and overseas for his lyrical bebop playing and band leading. His influences include Clifford Brown and Miles Davis, with a good dose of Freddie Hubbard and even a little Wynton thrown in the mix. Past excursions have seen him play at the Royal Albert Hall, Isle of Wight Festival, Jazz at the Lincoln Centre, Appleby Jazz Festival, Love Supreme Festival, to name but a few. As a side man, he has played alongside Alan Barnes, the late great Johnny Dankworth, heavyweight American sax player Jerry Weldon, and Richard Johnson.
Alan Barnes is one of our greatest jazz musicians, winning many awards, playing clarinet, alto and baritone saxophones, both in smaller intimate jazz clubs and on larger concert hall stages with equal creativity. A towering giant on the British jazz scene for over five decades, his playing combines a formidable virtuosity with outstanding musical expression and has grabbed the attention of fans throughout his illustrious career.
Not only is Mark Bassey a superb jazz trombonist, but he also excels as a composer, arranger and band leader, and he is a revered educator at several conservatoires including the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. He has recorded widely with many people, including Stan Sulzmann, Clark Tracey and Kenny Wheeler.
Terry Seabrook has previously performed at Fleece Jazz and is known for his projects from Cubana Bop, Milestones and Triversion through to his current touring band Atlanticus. Together with Dominic Howles on bass and Peter Cater on drums, they make a superb back line rhythm section.
