The Water Chorus are proud to be releasing their second EP ‘Scorn’ – the first release with their full line-up. A mixture of traditional songs, tunes and their own arrangements, it is at turns playful, mournful and filled with the energy of live performance on which the band thrives.
The Water Chorus play folk music that ranges from the raucously celebratory to the eerily affecting. Punky, upbeat arrangements re-discover the joy and energy in folk music, whilst atmospheric re-imaginings of almost-forgotten ballads find humour and absurdity in stories from our shared history.
Accompanied by the incredible puppeteering talents of their friends Cardboardistan, the EP launch show will also launch the next stage in an ongoing collaboration, combining two traditional forms that play on the boundaries between theatre, storytelling and communal celebration – folk music and puppetry.
Sylvid are a new duo on London’s folk scene. Singer-songwriter Maria Mihailik and jazz-fusion artist Helena Day have collaborated to bring a soulful sound and lush harmonies to beloved traditional folk songs, with an emphasis on music from the Appalachian region.
