The Kanneh-Masons all share exceptional musical talents giving inspiration to all. Despite our disappointment that we will not have Sheku with us for this concert, due to his ongoing recovery from the finger injury, we are delighted that Isata will appear as solo pianist together with her violinist brother Braimah and his accompanist Jâms Coleman.
ISATA is ‘one of today’s most in-demand classical musicians’ and has a busy schedule of concerto performances and debuts together with solo and chamber music appearances for the current season. Her critically acclaimed recordings have topped classical charts, bringing elegance, insight and vivid character to everything she performs. It is her first visit to us. We were enthralled by BRAIMAH’s performance here back in 2022 at the Kanneh-Mason family concert. He is a dynamic and engaging violinist ‘his musicianship was never less than superb’ who has performed throughout the UK, Europe, USA and in Australia as a soloist and chamber musician. JÂMS is a solo pianist, chamber musician and vocal accompanist. He performs at prestigious festivals and venues in the UK and internationally and regularly works with singers and instrumentalists at the top of the profession, ‘his playing is outstanding, with thrilling variety and exquisite touch’.
These three world class musicians offer a splendid programme. We will hear sonatas for violin and piano by MOZART and GRIEG, and for solo piano BEETHOVEN’s ‘Waldstein’ Sonata and RAVEL’s Gaspard de la nuit. A truly unmissable evening.
