Event information

“Barnes plays music that was radical 50 years ago but he infuses it with so much passion and energy you could believe it was minted on the spot” GUARDIAN

Inspired by the Billy Strayhorn composition and Duke Ellington’s mid 1960s small group recordings, The Intimacy of the Blues is a set of jazz numbers indebted to the colour, spirit and emotion of the blues. Featuring the multi award-winning Alan Barnes (saxophones/clarinet) with Chris Ingham (piano), Simon Thorpe (bass) and George Double (drums).
