Baltimore-based Letitia Van Sant and David McKindley-Ward have built a
faithful following on both sides of the Atlantic and have toured the UK
previously, winning many accolades.
BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe is a fan and told listeners to his weekly Folk
Show they were “finely-crafted and not unlike Gillian Welch and David
Rawlings,” adding “and there can be no higher praise than that!”
They were described as “one of the great duos in the Americana
firmament today” at AmericanaUK.
Letitia first came to prominence in 2017 when she won the prestigious
Kerrville New Folk Song-writing competition – an award previously
carried off by the likes of Lucinda Williams and Nanci Griffith.
Keen to work with those being marginalised, or poorly represented, and
determined to give them a voice, she has dedicated much of her time to
voluntary work as a social and environmental advocate.
When American President Donald Trump threatened to deploy the
National Guard on to the streets of her city to quell recent unrest, she
recorded a single in protest which was rush-released by her record
company, Free Dirt.
Paste magazine said: "Her gentle singsong may strike you as sweet, but
listen closer, and you'll realise she is spitting fire"
