Event information

Delighted to be hosting this London EP launch show for our eternal faves Mumbles! The band have an amazing new EP out called The Mumbles Book of Hell, which the band call ‘26 minutes of evil, humiliation, and narcolepsy’, and we'll be doing a launch show in London with Perfect Binding and Prayer Tech, will be a great night!

We’re doing affordable basic tickets at £7, a bundle of both the ticket and the tape for £10, and a bigger ‘Full Hellscape’ bundle of ticket for £15, which includes tape, and both accompanying zines - The Mumbles Booklet of Hell and The Mumbles Dream Dictionary, written by Mumbles’ Jacob Nicholas and collaborator Harriet Lander.

Mumbles’ new EP The Mumbles Book of Hell rampages through the personal and political, finding heartbreak in world crisis and utopia in friendships. Recorded live, these five songs capture the carnage of the group’s famously feral gigs, a savage and yearning map covering everything from bass-clarinet driven doom to fractured slowcore, spasmodic postpunk to hurdy-gurdy ambience. FFO Deerhoof, Squid, Olivier Messiaen, Yo La Tengo, Sunn O))), early music, Claire Rousay, Melt-Banana, Horse Lords etc.

Perfect Binding is the recording project of London-based songwriter and composer Sam Bedford, formerly of Cagework. Based around nylon-string guitar, voice, cello and fragments of tape music, Bedford creates songs that feel gently detached and intimate and yet still rich in atmosphere. His debut EP presents a collection of slow-burning, subtly arranged recordings (Counterparts, Damning, Interlude, Virginia Creeper) interspersed with between-the-eyes alt-rock pop songs (Tincture, Still Boils Fast)that make for a an arresting listening experience. The collection draws as much from experimental traditions as they do from folk songwriting. Drawing comparisons to the likes of Robert Wyatt, Colleen, Vashti Bunyan or early Beirut, Bedford’s work lives in the in-between, neither lo-fi nor polished, neither throw-back nor contemporary.

Prayer Tech is a new project featuring current and past members of Blue bendy, Keg and Pozi. Drawing from the sounds of emo, post-hardcore and psychedelia, the 3 piece mutate clashing opposites together, sincerity and pretence, open guitar and discordant bass riffs whilst sharing a love for financial gains and music.

FYI the show is 18+ and the venue is down a flight of stairs so is not wheelchair accessible.
