The legend that is Kid Congo returns with the Pink Monkey Birds in March to play a Nottingham show!

First known as guitarist in legendary formations such as The Cramps, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds & The Gun Club that he co-founded, Kid Congo now plays with his latest project: Kid Congo and The Pink Monkey Birds, with six (count 'em!) albums released on the ever reliable In The Red Records so far; Dracula Boots 2009, Gorilla Rose 2011, Haunted Head 2013, La Araña Es La Vida 2016, Swing From The Sean DeLear 2021 and That Delicious Vice 2024.

With support from Liz Lamere + Clambake + No Peeling

The band also recently shared the video for “Silver For My Sister” - the song, taken from That Delicious Vice, was inspired by the sentence “A wish to crawl”, which was jotted on a post-it note when Kid was laid up in bed, unable to walk unassisted for 5 months, after a bicycle accident left him with a shattered tibia plateau. At the same time, he was also mourning the death of a long time friend, Julie Long Gallegos, who was the jeweler with “red lipstick hair”; she was an advocate for wolf preservation and loved all wolf symbolism, so the song took shape as a tribute of sorts as it veered into storybook-land. Video directors Max Flick and Ambar Navarro capture the mood perfectly, with gorgeous surreal settings and fantastic stop motion animation.

The band will have a tour exclusive self pressed 45 "Aphrodite Expedite" b/w "In The Ground" for sale while stocks last!

LIZ LAMERE
Partner of and collaborator with the late Alan Vega. Liz led an early double life as both high-end Wall Street lawyer and downtown New York punk before meeting and falling in love with Vega. This led to her becoming his manager, creative foil and keyboard manipulator on solo albums beginning in 1990 and including Deuce Avenue, Power On To Zero Hour, New Raceion, Dujang Prang, 2007, Station, IT and recently exhumed Mutator that launched the Vega Vault she helps curate. Covid lockdown saw her finally exucute her own solo album vision with the help of her and Vega's sound engineer son, Dante.

CLAMBAKE
Rumoured to be brothers, Clambake offer stewed down rock'n'roll at its most primitive, featuring 4 stringed guitar, minimal drum kit and shouting. Subject matter included getting divorced, boozing, wanting to be the next James Bond, crashing your car and wanting to make the world a better place. During their time together Clambake sonically changed from their earlier 50's inspirations to a two man Motorhead, or the Ramones with a slide guitar.
