As a youngster listening to The Beatles and Stateside soul acts from the Stax and Motown stable, Hamish Stuart could hardly have dreamed that one day he'd be (maybe the only?) musician to spend years recording and playing live with the two surviving Beatles. But that's what happened as following six years with Sir Paul, Hamish has spent the last 20 years as a featured artist with Ringo's 'All Starr Band'. In fact, after playing for us he flies out to join Ringo's band for their next tour! And if that's not enough, Hamish in his role as co-lead vocalist, guitarist (sometimes bassist) and songwriter with 'The Average White Band' had earlier won over the widespread support of US soul fans, playing stadium shows as the band became famous for the million selling instrumental 'Pick Up The Pieces' (co-written by Hamish), followed by other hits, including Hamish's 'Queen Of My Soul' which peaked at number 2 in the UK charts. Outside of these illustrious achievements, Hamish has also worked as songwriter, musician and/or producer of other industry giants, including Aretha, Chaka Khan, George Benson, Smokey Robinson and Quincy Jones to name but a few.
Robbie McIntosh is also widely regarded as UK music royalty, primarily as a guitarist but also as a singer-songwriter and producer (Mim Grey's latest album being but one example). Initially rising to prominence with The Pretenders, Robbie himself joined McCartney's band from 1989 to1993, followed by stints with Norah Jones and (20 million selling, multi Grammy winning) John Mayer. Other 'household' names who have benefitted from Robbie's considerable guitar skills include Kevin Ayers, Boyzone, Cher, George Martin, Heather Small, Joe Cocker, Daryl Hall, Kirsty McColl, Mike and the Mechanics, Nine Below Zero, Paul Carrack, Paul Young, Mark Knopfler, Roger Daltrey, Russell Watson, Talk Talk, Tears for Fears, Tina Arena, and Tori Amos, to name but some.
So, join us for a very special event with these two remarkable 'musician's musicians' for a uniquely intimate evening of songs and stories; which possibly represents the biggest coup yet for the Anchor Sessions!
