Martin Speake made his mark in the 1980s with the saxophone quartet Itchy Fingers, touring globally. From the late 1980s onwards, he’s led many diverse projects — performing everything from interpretations of Charlie Parker standards to free improvisation and cross-cultural work incorporating Indian, Arabic and Turkish rhythms. His 2006 ECM album Change of Heart is among his critically acclaimed works. With Chris Coull – trumpet, Tim Wells – piano, Paul Whitten – double bass, Angus Bishop – drums.
