Stourbridge based beat combo, Flying Ant Day return to Claptrap for the first time since their sell-out, 10th anniversary gig in 2025. Regulars will know what to expect, for others, a musical mix of 50s R'n'R, 60s beat, 77 punk and 80s indie backing the unique lyrics of singer Bodmin Moore. Their 5th album, ‘The Goldenberg Variations’, is now available on CD or as a download at www.flyingantday.bandcamp.com. Or buy it with cash at the gig.
We love Billy Whizz. This blurb has worked at least twice before so let’s use it again, “Billy Whizz deliver fast, furious pop-punk with dry wit and a knowing wink. They’re thrashy but never trashy, relentlessly loud and exhilaratingly good”. Check them out at https://soundcloud.com/billywhizzband
We love Sicky too. It’s a top, pop trivia fact that ‘Mickey’ was not the original title of Toni Basil’s mega hit*, it was in fact ‘Sicky’**. The first recorded version, however, was ‘Kitty’ by the legendary band Racey***. That aside, Sicky doesn’t sound much like either Toni Basil or Racey. Here at FAD HQ, we hear flashes of Beck, Eels, and Marc Bolan. Check out ‘Troubled delight’, released last year, and more at www.sicky2.bandcamp.com.
