David Bieda – architect and occasional Sohemian Society punter – will be the guide for this tour of his home, an exceptionally beautiful townhouse that he rescued from dereliction. Built around 1720-1732 by John Meard, Jr, who lent his name to Meard Street, No. 68 Dean Street is one of few surviving early Georgian houses in London. Besides admiring its paneled and atmospheric rooms, its meticulously carpentered staircases, and its Delft tiles, you’ll have the chance to look at David’s collection of lithographs by major twentieth-century artists such as Fernand Léger, Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carra, and Man Ray.
Tickets include end-of-tour wine, soft drinks, and nibbles. The tour itself lasts anywhere from one-and-a-half to two hours.
