Starting her career as a DIY street busker on England’s south coast and now signed to Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe records in the USA, distinguished British artist and ‘original folk voice’, Ruth Theodore has been steadily releasing critically acclaimed records for over a decade.
Ruth’s music reflects her naturally transient personality, actively avoiding being pinned down in all aspects of life from sexuality to physical location. Between her boat, nestled on squatted land in east London, the tour-van-come-self-built-writing-space, her ‘home’ recording studio balancing above a live music venue, and periods collaborating in the US - Ruth and her music are entities on the move, always developing something new and exciting.
These days you can find Ruth sharing labels, stages, and studios with iconic international artists, as a performer, writer and recently co-producer, creating her critically acclaimed music alongside long-term collaborators; Tony and Grammy award winning producer and bassist Todd Sickafoose, and Swiss-American virtuoso percussionist Mathias Kunzli. This year is set to see Ruth touring alongside legendary folk singer, Dar Williams, performing headline shows with full band and appearing at festivals internationally.'
