After a little winter break The Arches Social is excited to be back in action, bringing to the stage local Eastern European fusion band Zakvas, along with fire-driven latin rhythms from Pitanga!
ZAKVAS are a Leeds-based Polish/English 5-piece. They blend gypsy, klezmer, and Balkan influences with rock, funk, and post-punk elements for a 22nd century sound clash. Duelling violin and electric-guitar complement lead vocalist Kasia’s beautiful vocals, atop an atypical rhythmic furore which will be sure to get your feet moving of their own accord.
Pitanga are a fire-driven latin-jazz-fusion trio emerging out of the bloody wreckage of the Leeds bossa nova circuit. In 2024, Martín Berger, Jacob Harrison and Alex Chadha stumbled upon the alchemic recipe for turning crotchets into PARTY, and there has been little stopping them since. They've turned heads and twisted ankles at the Chapel Allerton Festival Main Stage, Kirkstall Valley Farm, Casa Leeds, Rhythm & Rye, and will soon be tearing it up at the Leeds Jazz Festival. Dare you dance with Pitanga?
Bar open from 6pm, doors at 7pm and always arrive early to have some food from the fabulous FUNCHO!
