Event information

West Pier Presents... 'Rising' is a curated grassroots showcase held at WaterBear 'The Venue' on Brighton seafront. This event on Friday 20th March is an electronic themed night! Live music acts, with an awesome Codesouth DJ keeping the energy up between acts and closing the night off properly.

This night was previously called Rising Stars and our last event at ALPHABET featured 3 x bands ... Joe Little / Matilda Grace / Lewis Monticelli. What a night! Energy and passion!

Rising is for new and emerging independent artists. We give them a supportive platform to perform in front of a live audience, build confidence, and develop their sound and direction. Artists join at different stages in their growth, but Rising is always an equal space and a safe environment to perform and entertain and above all, this is talent worth watching.

This time around, you are getting three 30 minute live sets from emerging electronic artists in their different forms, plus DJ BLOODL3TTER playing house and liquid drum and bass in between acts, then finishing the night with a full hour long closing set. All cheaper than a pint!

And it is all for a great cause. Every penny of profit from this event is being donated to Mind in Brighton and Hove helping fund vital mental health services in our City and across Sussex. It is something close to our hearts. It affects most of us, directly or through someone we care about, and this is our way of putting something back into the community while putting on a proper night out.

The Funktion-One sound system does the rest, crisp detail, real punch, and the kind of clarity that makes every track and every vocal land exactly how it should.

Featuring:

Everyday Saints hailing from Brighton are an alternative pop project exploring themes of occultism, old Hollywood glam, love, loss, and the darker side of showbiz. After years of musical collaboration in various forms, the band has spent the last six months reinventing themselves - writing and producing new synth-based music under the mentorship of Kieron Pepper (Sleeper, Radiophonic Workshop, former Prodigy live drummer). Totally original and not to be missed!

Kammin is opening the night, a 20-year-old multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer based in Brighton, currently studying music at university. He started on drums at the age of four and picked up guitar at seven years old. Rooted in jazz, blues, and rock, his sound has evolved into a distinctive blend of electronic and experimental elements, bridging the organic and the digital. With production now central to his identity, he brings a sharp ear for texture and detail and a clear, forward-looking artistic vision. Expect BPM's from 110-160.

Static Ella is a songwriter and producer based in Brighton and from New Zealand. She adopts an entirely DIY approach to her music, writing and producing everything in her attic studio. Inspired by the likes of Billie Eilish, Imogen Heap and the gritty edge of trip-hop pioneers like Massive Attack, she infuses pop sensibilities with a shadowy atmospheric edge, creating songs that explore themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the darker corners of the human experience.

Come for the electronic acts, stay for the awesome DJ. BLOODL3TTER is a unique artist, producer and DJ who blends emotional and dark themes with intricate production and sound design with a mix of organic and electronic elements. She is an open format DJ and has a weekly show called "Future Frequencies" on CodeSouth where she showcases a range of electronic music, usually focused on interesting and unique sound design elements and production techniques.
