Come on a wild food forage around Staverton, cook and eat a shared wild food lunch together and learn to create a selection of gut friendly fermented wild food preserves to take home.
A feast for garlic lovers! Come and learn how to forage for wild garlic and a host of other spring edible plants safely and sustainably as we stroll through woods and paths by the River Dart. Along the way we'll discuss how to eat, cook and preserve different wild foods. After our foraging walk, we'll all get stuck in to creating a meal out of what we have foraged which we will share for lunch. We will then show you how to preserve what you have collected in different ways including the magic of lacto-fermentation to make wild sauerkraut and kimchi, and you'll take a jar of each of your ferments home.
We will be meeting at The George Clake Pavilion at: Staverton Play Park,, 2 Dart View, Staverton, Totnes TQ9 6NX.
There is parking beside the playpark next to the pavilion. You can get a bus to Staverton railway station or walk/cycle along the cycle path from Totnes (4 miles).
All food will be plant-based but please let us know if you have any other allergies or food preferences and we will try to accommodate it (we are not able to handle severe allergies as we will be cooking and eating as a group in a shared kitchen so we cannot guarantee there wont be any cross-contamination)
Aimed at adults and older children (although younger kids are welcome if they are supervised).
Friendly dogs welcome
Please wear weather appropriate clothing as it may be muddy or wet specially as we are by the river.
