A very special night celebrating Bolivia's Oruro's festival (UNESCO heritage), ft. Jilita sin Fronteras, one of the most popular and established bands in the city bringing carnival flavours with charangos, guitars, pan pipes, flutes and tarkas with modern and traditional percussion, and Cordillera, a Bolivian/UK duo bringing the native Aymara language and popular songs from the Andean mountain range (Cordillera) with traditional Andean instruments!
These celebrations are a key part of Bolivian national identity, and the colour, the dancers, music and indigenous pride of the iconic cholitas have been an integral part since their earliest beginnings. As well as being spectacular they represent the identity and essence of Bolivia, uniting the community in a vibrant celebration full of tradition.
Headliners Jilita sin Fronteras take us on a a journey through the rhythms of Bolivian musical carnival styles, bringing their traditional, unique instruments, welcoming dancers and traditional cholitas to London!
In support, Cordillera (Miguel & Maia) present a living expression of Aymara traditions deeply intertwined with nature, community identity and spirituality to maintain balance with nature and spirits (Pachamama).
Bolivia is a land of breath-taking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, where centuries-old traditions are celebrated with unparalleled passion and colour. From the bustling streets of La Paz to the serene shores of Lake Titicaca, the country comes alive with festivals that blend indigenous rituals, Spanish influences, and modern creativity. For those seeking an immersive cultural experience, exploring Bolivian cultural celebrations is a journey into the heart of South America's soul. Undoubtedly a unique experience that combines tradition, culture, and a sense of community that endures over time. This event not only celebrates Bolivian heritage but also invites the world to join in a dance of colours and emotions, reminding us of the beauty of cultural diversity.
In-between sets, your host and DJ Carlitos Nino will keep the Latin carnival flavours from Latin America flowing on the dancefloor.
