Event information

'Every woman is a rebel, and usually in wild revolt against herself.' The price of reputation, the cost of truth: the revelation of a woman’s secret and scandalous past comes back to haunt her in this classic comedy. Oscar Wilde’s biting satire explores the moral hypocrisy, injustice and double standards of the Victorian era. By turns funny and dramatic, Wilde’s sparkling wit and sharp observations on human nature, morality and the consequences of actions continues to resonate in a world where privacy and reputation are often at stake and gender equality remains a major issue.

After the massive success of 'The Revlon Girl' last year the AG50 Company is delighted to return to its home at Market Overton Village Hall to present a rehearsed reading of this scintillating play accompanied by a light cream tea, which will be served during the interval.
