Event information

Mark can be summed up as an amateur Egyptologist and Historian, a Castle and Stones Explorer, a Castle Manager, an Astronomy Enthusiast and a Graphic Designer. He loves ancient history, particularly that of the Pharaohs, and anything from antiquity, history in general and lost civilisations. Mark is happiest when he is looking around some ruins and imagining how life was in its heyday.

During lockdown, Mark researched the history of The Castle and discovered a richer history than was already known. Over two years he compiled, wrote and designed the book, ‘The Castle: History of Bude’s iconic landmark’. This talk summarises this excellent history, the lives of those who lived there and how the current building became the award-winning jewel it is today. Mark is always on the search for further historic details and his talk will include any up-to-date information and pictures.
