Event information

Playwright and Dramaturg, Sarah Dickenson, talks about her work dramatising local North Cornish History in collaboration with theatremakers, producers and historians.

She will reflect on her play ‘The Commotion Time’, written in collaboration with Poundstock Gildhouse and historian Mark Stoyle, which played to sell-out audiences and garnered 5 star reviews when it was produced at Exeter Northcott in 2024.

Now, as part of a Peggy Ramsay residency at Exeter Northcott and Shakespeare's Globe, Sarah is writing a new play focussed on the story of Week St Mary heroine, Thomasina Bonaventure, collaborating with another wide community including the Week St Mary Bonaventure WI, historians at Exeter University and Birkebeck College, Endelienta Arts and the Merchant Tailor's Company in the City of London.

Brought up in North Cornwall, Sarah has over two decades of experience developing new plays nationally and internationally.
