Event information

Brothers John and Charles Wesley, the founders of Methodism, were both prolific writers. John wrote a fascinating journal of his travels on horseback and a best-selling book, while Charles penned more than 6,000 hymns.

Discover the tiny cottage museum on the edge of Bodmin Moor, just off the A30, where John visited six times. Within the cottage is an intimate ‘chapel’ that was built specifically for Wesley, and which is now believed to be the smallest Methodist preaching place in the world.

NB. Wesley Cottage is located in Daphne du Maurier country. The world-famous Jamaica Inn, which inspired the novel of that name, is just a few miles further along the A30. Altarnun and its magnificent church, which also featured in the novel, is a mile from the cottage.
