Tonight’s performance features two superb acts who will be well known to TwickFolk regulars. David Collins and Simon O’Grady & Tim White have appeared at TwickFolk in floor spots and support slots over the past few years and we are delighted to welcome them back for this special double-headline evening.
David is a singer-songwriter-guitarist who has drawn comparison to Chris Wood. Described by award-winning folk singer Nick Hart as “Fantastic to hear play… his guitar playing sounds really, really lovely”, David is a storyteller at heart. His music is a mix of traditional ballads, his own, often very personal songs, and even some contemporary works, too. All of this is underpinned by his guitar playing that has a gentle and nuanced approach, supporting the story and tradition of ballad singing. A semi-finalist at the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Musician awards in 2011, David played across the UK at clubs and festivals. After a break of several years, David’s debut full album, Sundown, was released last year and marks his return to live music and performance.
Simon and Tim are an alt-folk duo with a unique sound that blends hypnotic rhythms and folk melodies. Their wry, observational lyrics, backed by fluid, finger-picked guitar and tasteful, chiming banjo, are instantly captivating and have drawn considerable praise from TwickFolk audiences. Simon and Tim’s new album, Stop Frame Animation, is released on 6 March 2026.
