Vasileios Podaras, more commonly known as Billy Pod, is an award-winning Greek drummer based in London.
His debut album “Drums to Heal Society” was released in 2019 and gave him not only a prominent position among a new generation of drummers internationally, but also demonstrated his compelling skills as a composer and bandleader.
His latest album entitled ‘Quintessence’ is a reflection on the intellectual nature of humanity in modern society. It was well received by press, media and audiences upon release and throughout the accompanying UK and European tour in 2023. The music displays dynamic and lyrical contemporary jazz with haunting melodies and rich, complex moods.
On this special night at the East Side Jazz club Billy will be debuting new material featuring a stellar line-up of John Turville on piano, Misha Mullov - Abbado on bass and long-time collaborator Tom Ollendorff on guitar.

Tom Ollendorff is fast becoming one of the best-known guitarists on the international jazz scene, affirming his place with his critically acclaimed third album, Where in the World, which he is bringing to Ronnie Scott’s as part of his international world tour.

Alongside his work as a bandleader, Tom has been fortunate to work extensively as a sideman with a wide range of artists, including Ari Hoenig, Bill McHenry, Geoff Simkins, Huw Warren, Tim Garland, Nitai Hershkovits and The Fresh Sound Ensemble. Tom is known for his highly distinctive sound, which blends virtuosic technique, sophisticated harmonic concepts with nuance and sensitivity.

John Turville is one of the UK’s most imaginative and versatile pianists and has worked in a wide range of formats across a similarly wide variety of genres. Jazz, classical and tango all come within Turville’s remit and elements of all three will be heard in the music tonight

Award-winning, London-based jazz bass player, composer and arranger Misha Mullov-Abbado is a musician who combines great imagination with raw talent and a clear vision. A BBC New Generation Artist and with three critically acclaimed albums on Edition Records under his name, his most recent offering Effra showcases his ‘melodic gift’ (John Fordham, The Guardian) and ability to masterfully combine beautifully-crafted compositions with free-spirited improvisation. Written over a three-year period the self-produced album, released in early 2025 on Ubuntu Music, marks the arrival of an artist who has been on a voyage of self-discovery.
