Event information

While our storytellers naturally observe most scrupulously that every word they tell must be the unvarnished truth, with never even the tiniest exaggeration, for just this one night of the year they're allowed to move the goalposts. After a first part of the evening with a selection of 10 minute tales, in the second half we have as many entrants as possible contesting the famed Feast of Fools Virtual Crown of Mendacity. Each entrant has a strictly timed five minutes, not a second more, and the audience's decision on who's the best liar will be final, measured by scientifically evaluated applause rating.
And a referee - at the time of writing, their name yet to be announced.
We welcome new entrants. Please contact us beforehand to be sure of a place on the list.

As always, the rules exclude scripts, not even literary shirt-cuffs, it's just the storyteller, and that extra tension of the sand timer, and the performer's persuasiveness to make the audience believe that they're hearing something real ... until they realise this can't have been, but hopefully aren't sure where the gap between truth and fantasy actually came.

As always, doors at the Quaker Meeting House will open at 7.00 for 7.30, and the cakes and refreshments will be truly lovely, likewise the company.
