Picture books are deceptively simple – and extraordinarily hard to get right. In this workshop, you'll discover the magic to getting those few words just right.
Tim Tilley is the award-winning author and illustrator of Harklights, published by Usborne and winner of the inaugural Joan Aiken Future Classics Prize. As well as creating his own books, he teaches children's book illustration at City Lit in London, where students have gone on to be published as authors, illustrators and author-illustrators in their own right.
In this hands-on session, Tim will guide you through what makes a picture book truly stand out – exploring structure, the craft of visual storytelling, and how words and images work together on the page. You'll bring a character to life and begin plotting your own original picture book, with Tim's guidance every step of the way.
Open to all – no experience needed, just curiosity and a love of stories.
