Seamus Fogarty is out on tour this year to promote his recently released album 'Ships'. Thankfully, this ship will be calling at The Foxlowe on Sat 29th August.
Seamus Fogarty is a Mayo-born, London-based artist whose music incorporates Irish folk storytelling with experimental indie and electronic textures. His songs often combine banjo, acoustic instrumentation and field recordings with loops and subtle electronics, creating a sound that feels both rooted in traditional folk and playfully modern. Lyrically, he leans toward observational, witty narratives and surreal imagery, delivered with a distinctive, conversational vocal style.
'Ships' is his most expansive and uplifting collection of music to date. Channelling everything from Tortoise to early 90s hip hop, it’s packed with poignant and funny slice-of-life vignettes touching on love, loss, DIY coffins, cans on trains with strangers and so much more.
Recent singles 'I Passed Your House' and 'Ships" have already made waves since release, getting picked up by Radio 2’s Marc Radcliffe and a host of BBC 6 Music presenters including Huw Stephens and Gideon Coe, Cerys Matthews, Guy Garvey, Lauren Laverne and Cillian Murphy.
“A gently inventive showcase of his plaintive songwriting, leavened with wry humour, propelled by peppy arpeggiated rhythms and finessed with canny production” 8/10 UNCUT
“JUST BRILLIANT” – CILLIAN MURPHY, BBC 6 MUSIC
