THE DIALS were meant to play Psych Sundae in May 2020. That obviously didn’t happen, and unfortunately they weren’t available for the post-lockdown show the following year. As a result we’re super excited that, after a few dormant years, they will be playing Psychedelic Autumn Sundae at last ! Prior to their recent hiatus, the band were familiar faces on the UK underground music scene, playing their own peculiar blend of psychedelia, surf, folk and jazz garage inspired by The Zombies, Funkadelic, Caravan and Miles Davis.
Named after a fictional town from cult 60s British TV spy series The Avengers, LITTLE STORPING IN THE SWUFF launched their indie-pysch-pop on 2024 debut album ‘Baroque Anxieties’, with supportive airplay across BBC 6 Music (including a session for Riley & Coe) and critical acclaim from The Guardian, Shindig! and Bearded Magazine. The follow-up album ‘Hassle Olympics’ was released in April 2026 via the Spinout Nuggets label to similar fond words and support across BBC 6 Music. The band have honed their eccentric live reputation with a series of absurdist happenings across the UK. Lead singer David Goggin was previously the creative force behind Medway pysch-pop outfit Brigadier Ambrose, once described by Huw Stephens as ‘the greatest thing to ever come out of Chatham’. Brigadier Ambrose released a series of 60s psych influenced singles and an album in the late 00s to widespread Radio One, Radio Two and BBC 6 Music airplay, and performed at various festivals like Latitude and with BBC Introducing during that period.
RUBBER BUS formed in Brighton in the early 1990s sharing international stages with the likes of Transglobal Underground, Loop Guru, Hawkwind, Here & Now and many more. They released a series of cassettes and a full album Take It Easy and contributed tracks to several compilation albums, most notably the infamous Music For Coffeeshops comp on Dreamtime alongside Porcupine Tree, Astralasia, Ship Of Fools and Back To The Planet in 1996.
Since reforming after a twenty-year hiatus in 2019, the band have released several albums, including Noh Yogah, Welcome To Karmic City, and their ,most recent offering, Hipping The Splatom. These are all available on their Bandcamp page. They often feature Gregg McKella, who also guests with The Decadent Dayze on occasion.
SON OF UGLY is a genre fluid, Sussex-based instrumental 5-piece. Born from a love of film soundtracks, horror, B-movie sci-fi, and 60's cartoons, the band was formed by Kyle Macleod in 2016. The band's epic, theatrical style of music, pulverizes you one moment and caresses you the next, with each song taking you on a different journey as the lead character in an ever-evolving soundscape filled with mystery. Kyle's synths, effects and vocals add a dynamic element to the music that can inflict punishing terror and antiquated beauty the next, with a side-helping of kooky 60's lounge organs, and pervy kazoo. Following a phase of playing extensively in London and the South East, the guys released their debut album Invitation to Danger in 2020, and a remix e.p. titled 'Derailed' in 2022.
We’ve enjoyed having FANE play Psych Sundae several times. In fact, James has made five appearances over the years, including one with Moonclouds. It’s therefore hard to believe that he hasn’t played our event since 2022. Where does the time go ? FANE is a Brighton-based Gnostic sonic wanderer and practitioner of Avalon Primitive Guitar. His music is that of ancient ways, shrines, Earth magic and forgotten roads, told through devotional drones with echoes of folk music and minimalism.
Your hosts, THE DECADENT DAYZE, aim to create catchy Freakbeat tunes that might have been heard on Radio London in 1967/68. Stylistically, the group's garage-psych-pop roots (13th Floor Elevators, The Golden Dawn, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Buzzcocks etc) are tempered by elements of folk-horror and, dare we say it, prog-rock. Some of their songs involve strange tales of black cats, stone circles, magic spells, whizz bangs and fairies, but they can still knock out a decent love song when they want. The band have just recorded their debut studio album, Magical Dayze, which will be released later this year. A single, Down By The Water, preceded the album, and received a great review in Shindig. You can still get a limited 7” lathe-cut of the single via Bandcamp. It features two versions of the song, including one with Emma Morton (Sairie) on lead vocals. The Dayze often feature Gregg McKella, who also guests with Rubber Bus on occasion.
