Glissando is a duo from Leeds, UK playing ambient, slowcore, classical based music. Their debut album 'With Our Arms Wide Open We March Towards the Burning Sea' was released to high critical acclaim on Gizeh Records in June 2008. A heavy touring schedule in 2008/09, including shows with Stars of the Lid, took this beautiful band to fresh audiences and complete with added members Glissando is now a breathtaking live experience. Work is ongoing for album number two which is expected to be released at some point in 2010. This will be a full band performance.

Epic45 are one of those very special bands - their music manages to capture the sounds that have been in your head for years, but you’ve never actually heard. Inspired by their surroundings, blissful childhood summers and mysterious/inspiring walks the duo has been making music for more than a decade, and are rightly held in high regard for fusing elements of electronica, alt. indie, post rock and ambience in a very individual way.

It comes as no surprise to find that Epic45 grew up - and still reside - in a small rural village in the heartland of the English Midlands. Based around the nucleus of school friends Ben Holton and Rob Glover, Epic45 have had a varied and fluid line-up since their debut in 1999, releasing a series of highly acclaimed EPs and albums. The band has also received radio airplay from the late John Peel, Steve Lamacq and Verity Sharp over the past few years.

When the brothers Adams allowed Hood an extended sabbatical it was always going to be interesting to see how far their musical paths would diverge from their unmistakable blueprint. Now temporarily freed from the pressures and expectations of the Hood environment, Richard Adams has breathed an audible sigh of relief into his new project, The Declining Winter. After releasing their debut album ‘Goodbye Minnesota’ to rave reviews, touring the UK with Stars of the Lid and A Silver Mt. Zion and making their debut European appearance at the Tanned Tin festival in Spain in November 2008, their second album, ‘Haunt the Upper Hallways’, was released on Home Assembly Music in July 2009.

Golden Diskó Ship (Theresa Stroetges) is a Berlin based musician named after a golden ship found rotting around the harbour of Reykjavík. We’re delighted to have her back over in Leeds as part of her third UK tour.

She combines a mass of instruments and found objects (guitars, viola, glockenspiel, sticky tape, compact disc cases, toys…) together with perfectly crafted laptop electronica to form a world of beautiful, original and individual music - “…dreamy, experimental folk electronica that sounds like walking on the beach with the sun in your eyes.”

Sleepingdog is the project of Belgium-based songstress Chantal Acda. Last year saw the release of her second album 'Polar Life' on Gizeh Records to critical acclaim. Joined on record and occasionally live by Adam Wiltzie (Stars of the Lid), who provides the sonic landscapes to compliment Acda's celestial vocals and maudlin piano melodies. A new Sleepingdog record is due out 2010.

Brave Timbers is the solo project of Sarah Kemp, also of The Declining Winter, Last Harbour, Lanterns on the Lake and Fieldhead. Sarah's solo project fuses her gorgeous violin playing with piano, tenor guitar and other acoustic instruments to produce pieces of beautifully mournful pastroral music. She has contributed a track to Second Language Records 'Music & Migration' compilation, alongside Vashti Bunyan, Peter Broderick and Hauschka.

An ever shifting group of people, Ithaca Trio also manage to cover a variety of styles in their music - ranging from slow burning deep ambient pieces reminiscent of Machinefabriek on a calm day or Jasper TX, they’re also at home producing clear as a bell rythmic pieces based around (ahem) ‘real’ instrumentation, taking nods from Steve Reich or John Fahey. Whichever mood they’re in, it is always the music of calm understanding and of understatement. Excellent.
