Close To The Bone is a hard grooving five-piece band led by trombonist Dave Keech.
The band draws on myriad influences ranging from Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus to soul, funk and hip-hop. The band will play a headline set of sizzling original material guaranteed to set the place alight.
Dave started playing the trombone at the age of eleven, and his life-long love affair with American blues, soul and jazz infuses everything that he plays. For several years he was a mainstay of Ray Gelato's Giants, touring extensively in Europe as well as appearances at Montreal Jazz Festival and Carnegie Hall, New York. He has also lived and worked in Japan recording and performing regularly as lead trombonist with Japanese contemporary big band The Blue Notes Jazz Orchestra. As well as gigging with Close To The Bone, he is currently writing and recording with South African guitarist James Ribbans and collaborating with film company Hijack Productions on a soundtrack for a forthcoming documentary on pop art giant, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi.
