Our final preview before the Fringe kicks off, and it's a good'un. This month, The Sponge presents you with:
STEWART LEE was once voted the 41st best stand up of all time, but a more recent poll puts him in 12th, which is a pretty impressive jump. Any number of publications could be used to tell you quite how superb this man is. The Times call him 'the comedian's comedian, with good reason.' Timeout said he is 'one of the top three or four living stand-up.' I say he is brilliant, and deserves to be higher than 12th in that list.
BRIDGET CHRISTIE is a regular on the sketch and stand-up circuit, performing as both herself and A Ant, the circuit's top ant comedian.
She was a finalist in Funny Women 2004, nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2005, won the inaugural Funny Women Best Show Fringe Award 2007 and was nominated for the Chortle Best Breakthrough Act 2009. Her 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Edinburgh shows have been comedy picks in the Metro, The Guardian, The Times, The Stage and The Scotsman. She is brilliant too.
BRODERICK CHOW is a west-coast Canadian stand-up comedian living in London who has been entertaining audiences with his "confident and intelligent" (Newbury Today) mix of popular culture, philosophy and personal stories since August 2006. He is also brilliant.
Your compere for the evening will be, as ever, JAMES W SMITH. I am not at liberty to say whether he is brilliant or not because I am him, and that would look and sound rather egocentric. Richard Herring, on the other hand, said of me: 'he had some great one liners, and shows lots of promise.' Which was nice.
