Jack Lawrence is heralded as one of the finest acoustic guitarists in the country. Referred to as an "acoustic powerhouse," his musicianship on the flat top guitar has mesmerised audiences for decades. Jack's style is eclectic, encompassing americana, blues, bluegrass and "sophisticated folk." Jack is highly regarded in his most prominent role as partner to Doc Watson since the early 1980's.
Growing up in Charlotte, North Carolina, his musical odyssey began at age ten when his father took a job as sound engineer for a local music hall. Here the young Jack had backstage access to many of the top acts in the Country, Bluegrass and Gospel fields as well as the local R'n'B bands. During the early 70’s he played with Bluegrass pioneers The New Deal String Band as well as honing his technique in rock & country bands and touring in a folk duo with Joe Smothers.
