Event information

Adrian Roye & the Exiles bring 'An Evening in Exile' to south London for the first time! Miss Red (Beautiful and Damned) provides a DJ set during the night.

Following the release of their debut EP ‘Telephones and Traffic Lights’ in spring 2009, the North London-based four-piece have being steadily building a loyal following through headline shows at the Luminaire, Jazz Café and Dingwalls. The group are set to release their debut single ‘The Only Poster Child’ in September 2010.

They have been hailed by music-news.com as ‘A very tasty group…they really don’t sound like anyone else…If you get the chance to catch them live I suggest you take it’ (4/5 stars).

Talented singer-songwriter Adrian Roye leads the band with his powerful combination of soulful vocals and guitar, following in the path of artists such as Tracy Chapman, Amos Lee and Jeff Buckley. What distinguishes Roye is the inventiveness and variety of his song-writing, which ranges from afro-beat inflected pop songs to haunting murder ballads. Cellist and electric guitarist Simon Lewis brings richness and warmth to the music; bassist Beth Dariti, her flowing bass lines and subtle vocal harmonies, while drummer Dan Paton drives the rhythm section with bite, expressiveness and experience (Jeremy Warmsley, Hot Chip). Their music is a compulsive blend of folk, soul and roots, creating a sound that is both adventurous and accessible.
