Mama Rosin live and love the Cajun/Zydeco music style, whose roots go way back to the 18th century. Somehow these 3 young Swiss rebels found the original soul of Louisiana on the banks of Lake Geneva, but trash it all with amped-up/echoed-up melodeon (Cyril Yeterian), guitar/banjo/rub-board (Robin Girod) and serious drumming (Xavier "Gérard Guilain" Bray). Forget any purist notions. Mama Rosin smash genre boundaries. It’s voodoo magic out of Zydeco/Cajun Creole music meshed with furious Rock’n’Roll , Velvet Underground meets Clash meets deep south.....and then some more! And this music is infectious, super-wild and incredibly groooovy!
The adventures of Mama Rosin began with a demo-tape recorded and mixed by Pierre Omer (ex-The Dead Brothers). Swamped by this intriguing sound "Reverend Beat-Man" decided to sign the trio to his cult Voodoo Rhythm Records label straight away. The resulting two debut albums, Tu As Perdu Ton Chemin and Brule Lentement were finally released in the UK earlier this year to critical acclaim. The band have appeared at the Cambridge Folk Festival, on ‘Later’ with Jools Holland and are booked for Celtic Connections in 2011. Check them out at:
