Gary Fletcher and Graham Robins individually have played many of the bigger stages in the UK in their many years of touring; Gary with The Blues Band (still selling out shows whenever they play) and Graham with various bands and guises over 4 decades.
Teaming up to play live together for the first time (Gary played bass on Graham's forthcoming album The Shipping News) audiences are in for a real treat with each act doing a solo spot for up to 1 hour before forming as a duo for thr finale to the show.
GARY FLETCHER
Gary Fletcher is probably best known as the bass player in The Blues Band, although his song writing talent is respected by many. The band’s encore anthem, his song Green Stuff, has been a constant in their live set since the Ready album was released in 1980, and has been covered by bands throughout Europe. The band’s latest album, Stepping Out, features Gary’s song Stepping Out On Main, another big winner with audiences.
Exposure to blues-orientated records in the 60's sowed the seeds of his musical aspirations and he gradually began to play around with his sister’s humble Spanish guitar. Though left handed, he didn’t let the fact that the instrument was a right handed one stand in his way, and to this day plays a guitar strung for normal right hand use – left handed, ie upside down. Few others play this way although the late, great, blues player Albert King was similarly afflicted.
GRAHAM ROBINS
Graham Robins is an outstanding and soulful singer songwriter with two previous solo albums Spirit Within and Roll Back The Years on 33 Records. His 3rd album “The Shipping News” is due out in late 2010 and features some top named musicians, (Ronnie Johnson (Van Morrison), Gary Fletcher (Blues Band)).
Graham has performed at The Edinburgh Festival, The North Devon Music Festival, The Castlebar International Blues Festival and The Westport Arts Festival. He has opened shows for numerous artists including The Waterboys, Seth Lakeman, Glen Tilbrook, Georgie Fame and toured with Chris Farlowe.
Graham’s soulful voice and unique guitar style knit together perfectly wrapped around lyrics gathered from a lifetime of experience, where a performance becomes a passionate embrace of heartfelt songs revealing great depth and sincerity.
