Event information
Fiona Mozley was born in Hackney but grew up in York and studied at Cambridge. After briefly working at a literary agency in London, she moved back to York to complete a PhD in Medieval Studies.
Fiona’s debut novel, Elmet, was published in 2017. Brutal and beautiful in equal measure, Elmet is a compelling portrayal of a family living on the fringes of contemporary society, a beautiful meditation on landscape, and a gripping exploration of the disturbing actions people are capable of when pushed to their limits.
It would be no understatement to describe Elmet as one of the literary sensations of the year. Before the book had even been published, it had been long-listed for one of the world’s leading literary awards – the Man Booker Prize. Elmet ultimately reached the shortlist of the 2017 prize, propelling Mozley into international attention.
We're delighted that Fiona will be joining us to speak in conversation with Anita Sethi about her work.
