INAUGURAL MAYOR OF GREATER MANCHESTER’S CHARITY BALL

Event Information

This year, Rags to Riches, hosted by Nighat Awan OBE and Nazir Afzal OBE, present the Inaugural Mayor of Greater Manchester’s Charity Ball to be held on 22 November 2018 at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly.

This will be a high profile annual event showcasing what makes Greater Manchester and its people great. This event is being hosted in honour of the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, who will be our keynote speaker and will make a State of the Region address.

The event will support the Mayor of Greater Manchester’s Homelessness Fund – which aims to provide a bed for every night so no one needs to sleep rough on the streets of Greater Manchester this winter. Our fundraising will help to buy a bed every night, a hot meal and someone to talk to whilst people are in temporary shelter. This means that those who have been sleeping rough can not only get off the streets but also get the help they need to stay off them for good.

By supporting our Mayor, Andy Burnham, we want to help make a difference to Manchester - building the evening around the voices of the people of Greater Manchester and an opportunity to also reflect on our achievements and plan for our future.

Our vision is to honour the Mayor of Greater Manchester with his personal evening annually, and secondly raise funds and awareness for homelessness and poverty reduction. This event will bring the right people together under one roof, have a star-studded evening for the people of the North West to enjoy, but at the same time share the problem that belongs to us all.

The Mayor’s inaugural Ball will be a sit down spectacular evening of interesting speakers, vibrant entertainment and great food which will bring together the best of Manchester – its diversity, its history and its stature as a global cosmopolitan city.
