The UK’s Wildest 60’s and Beyond Party Weekend

Party pagans! Groovy druids! Sacrificial maidens! Ar-caners and astral planers! Spirit raisers, crystal ball gazers and devil praisers! It is time to gather for the ultimate black mass(ive shindig) – Hipsville 2020! Do what thou wilt shall be the WHOLE of the LAW!

Warlocks, witches and even The Goat of Mendes will descend on magickal Margate for a weekend of ritual rock and roll, paranormal partying and a orgy of heathen bands, diabolic DJs and transcendental go-go dancers. The UK’s biggest trash party is is celebrating eight years of mayhem with a celebration thunderous enough to rouse the dead from their sleep and the devil from down below.

Over 600 garage, rock ’n roll, tiki and punk fans descend annually on the south east of the UK for a wild weekend of bands, go-go girls and gorillas and DJs. In the past, attractions have included pool parties, custom car shows, live tiki carving, and roller discos. Bands drawn from the thriving and throbbing live scene worldwide have included The Rezillos (UK), The Night Times (USA), Giuda (Italy), The Masonics (UK), The Schizophonics (USA), The Black Mambas (USA), The Wildebeests (UK), Big Boss Man (UK) Messer Chups (Russia), The Baron Four (UK) The Jackets (Switzerland), Les Grys Grys (France), while DJs from across Europe have powered the crazed partying through the night and into the morning.

Each event has a theme; previous years have seen partygoers dress up for jungle, space, horror, Soho and carny parties, and this year’s OCCULT theme is set to be more full-on than ever – our guests put the world’s most jaw-dropping costumes together!

This year’s event will take in Margate’s most incredible venues and showcase some of the world’s finest rock and roll bands…

OUR VENUES

THE LIDO
The grooviest venue in town will host Friday and Saturday’s rituals. Last year, our guests were knocked out by its seventies interior preserved in aspic – the grooviest backdrop for the weekend’s wild worship. Go crazy over the crushed red velvet seating, Italian sprung dance floor, late night licence, a well-stocked bar and a sea view!

THE FEZ
The cosiest, coolest little bar in town and packed to the rafters with vintage signs, esoteric ephemera and ju-ju junk, The Fez will host afternoon DJs and recovery sessions. Come and do the voodoo you do so well!

The town of Margate offers an old-fashioned British atmosphere with its fish & chip shops, sandy beach, and strollable promenade. However, there’s a hip edge to the place; find a great selection of vintage shops, the Turner Contemporary gallery (free admission).

As a tourist town, there are plenty of accommodation possibilities including camping. Travel connections are easy and quick; a train station with direct connection to London and the town only 20 miles from the ferry port of Dover, and close to the Ashford Eurostar station.
